MAYI ARTS

MANIFESTO

[MA-YÌ]

“ MAYI means river, water flow and any stream in lingala, the national language of Congo. Congo has the largest river of Africa, the deepest of the world, one that drains enough water to power all the continent.

MAYI/WATER is essential to Life, for growth. Its source is as important as its purpose, just like a flow of creativity. The river is what connects us all, beyond borders. It is a continuous flow of life, sometimes calm and soothing, sometimes loud and overflowed with energy. Just like creativity. Mayi arts was founded in 2020 with the promise of documenting the emerging and contemporary art scene from Africa and its diasporas. The trailblazers and pioneers of our age.

MAYI connects artistry from all ends of the world. MAYI is a nomadic experience no longer lived as distant relatives but as a connected stream.”

This is what MAYI stands for.

This is our Manifesto.

This is Us.
